Stefani is a queer activist and educator with almost 10 years of experience. She works to build community, create resources, and provide educational opportunities for trans and queer folks, particularly in rural spaces. Stefani is a bisexual, first generation Peruvian-American, femme who’s passionate about dancing, makeup, and a very sweet Pitbull named Millie. She currently resides in Michigan’s beautiful Upper Peninsula but travels domestically and internationally as often as possible.
She holds two undergraduate degrees from Northern Michigan University and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from the same institution. After she graduates Stefani hopes to continue her work with rural college populations by serving in an administrative position and continuing to travel and teach.
Her work focuses on cultural competency, higher education, policy reform, body positivity, femme identity, the queer Latina experience, partnering, and community organizing. Stefani finds new training opportunities exciting and rewarding and is a frequently requested presenter for events, conferences, rallies, and classrooms. During her time as an undergraduate she spent several semesters interning in the Gender Studies Department and running her institutions only LGBT+ organization giving her valuable experience with her target demographics. She has also performed various corporate training to companies large and small around the Midwest and is passionate about creating a better and more inclusive environment for LGBT+ individuals.
